Holy Spirit: Who is He? Part 2
Dr. Henry Schorr
March 7/8, 2026
Christians often miss out on the supernatural power, guidance and help the Holy Spirit offers us. If we are going to experience the Holy Spirit in His fullness, we must know these foundational truths:

1. Holy Spirit is fully God. God is ONE BEING with three persons—Father, Son and Holy Spirit. BEING refers to the qualities that make you WHAT you are. PERSON refers to the qualities that make you WHO you are.

Each member within the Godhead performs a different function without being inferior to the others. In eternity past, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit freely and voluntarily chose the role they would take in bringing humanity back into right relationship with God.

After our first parents sinned, God the Father started the quest to bring all people back to Himself through Abraham and His descendants. Jesus, God the Son, chose to be the Saviour or Redeemer. God the Holy Spirit chose to enlighten and empower those of us who are followers of Jesus Christ. When you put your faith in Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit takes up permanent residence in your life and makes you spiritually alive in Christ. As you surrender your life to Him, the Holy Spirit will empower you to carry out the purposes God created you to carry out.

Holy Spirit possesses the divine attributes of God. He is all powerful, all knowing, and everywhere present. Holy Spirit does things only God can do. He creates. He caused the miraculous conception and birth of Jesus. He inspired the authors of the Bible to reveal God's truth to us.

2. Holy Spirit is a person, not an impersonal force. He thinks, He speaks, He leads. He has a will and feelings and affections. You can lie to Him, insult Him and grieve Him.

The Holy Spirit was sent by the Father to live in you and assist and empower you in all aspects of your Christian life. Get to know Him. Don't ignore Him; talk to Him. Invite Him to do your day with you.

3. Holy Spirit is our Companion. Holy Spirit will be your friend. He will never leave you. He will encourage you when you're down, caution you when you are tempted, guide you when you are lost, weep with you and restore you when you fall, and He will always love you.

Holy Spirit helps us in our weakness. He prays for us and through us. Holy Spirit longs for you to call out to him often and ask for His help.

When Jesus was on earth, he was filled with the Spirit, was guided and empowered by the Spirit. Holy Spirit wants to do the same for you as He did for Jesus.

4. Holy Spirit wants to give you Godly wisdom and direction. It isn't until you, by faith, give your life to Jesus Christ that the Holy Spirit comes into your life, makes you spiritually alive, and opens up the line of communication to God. So as long as you reject or ignore God, you really won't know God or fully understand the truth in the Bible. Holy Spirit is very concerned about truth. He will guide you to know the truth and empower you to live it out in your life. He'll show you the truth about yourself. He'll give you guidance for daily living through the Scriptures and by prompting you with His still small voice.

Don’t live in spiritual poverty by neglecting to tap into the inexhaustible riches of God that are available through the power of the Holy Spirit.
