Position Summary:
Work with a team of leaders and staff to create a safe, calm, and welcoming environment so that every person can fully engage in the life of the church. You maintain a visible and approachable presence in key areas, monitor entrances and high-traffic spaces, and support the safety of the campus. When situations arise, you respond with wisdom, grace, love, and composure, helping to de-escalate individuals/concerns, assist with medical needs, and act as a liaison with emergency services, while also communicating clearly with the Safety and Security Committee staff and team members. This is more than just watching, you are actively caring for people, bringing awareness, preparedness, and a steady presence that helps ministry happen safely, respectfully, and without distraction.
Ministry Vision:
The Safety and Security Team exists to create a safe space where people feel safe, seen, and cared for, so they can encounter Jesus and fully engage in the life of the church. Through a calm presence, ongoing awareness, wise responses, and Christlike care, we remove barriers, actively care for people, and support every ministry to thrive.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Maintain a visible, friendly presence in key areas of the building
- Monitor entrances, hallways, and high-traffic environments
- Respond to medical situations or incidents as needed
- Help de-escalate situations calmly and with wisdom using skills and procedures learned during training
- Communicate with team members and staff during services, using designated phone app's and two-way radios
- Complete incident reports when required
Time Commitment:
- Serve 1-2 times per month on weekends and select weekdays.
- 2 hour commitment that includes arriving 45 minutes before the service starts, staying during the service, and staying until next team arrives.
- Participate in ongoing training and development through the year (online and in-person).
Qualifications:
- A growing relationship with Jesus
- Calm, wise, and emotionally steady under pressure
- Friendly and approachable demeanor
- Strong awareness of surroundings
- Ability to follow systems, direction, and apply training
- Reliable and committed to serving on a team
- Helpful skills include (but not required)
- Security, law enforcement, or military background
- Medical or first aid training
- Experience in leadership or crisis response
