Position Summary:
Purpose Giving leadership to a healthy, mission-minded group where people are introduced to Jesus, grow as His disciples, and live in spiritual family - loving God, caring for one another, and reaching out with compassion and the gospel to those who don’t know Jesus yet.
The goal is to cultivate a strong leadership core that partners together to shepherd the group, while encouraging all participants to actively use their spiritual gifts for the growth, edification and mission of the spiritual family.
Ministry Vision:
We exist to help introduce people to Jesus, help them find connection and growth in smaller community, and help them become fully devoted disciples of Jesus, using their gifts to build Christ’s Body. We strive to create smaller groups of biblically functioning communities where followers of Jesus accomplish God’s redemptive purposes in the world. We use the vehicles of MCs, groups, classes, huddles, Learning Community, Invitational events, etc. to fulfill this purpose.
Duties & Responsibilities:
- Coordinate regular group gatherings
- Lead or co-lead in facilitating Scripture-based discussions and group prayer.
- Help create a welcoming and spiritually vibrant group culture that fosters relational trust and meaningful connection.
- Cultivate a spiritual family on mission.
- Encourage a culture of spiritual family that loves God wholeheartedly, supports one another as brothers and sisters in Christ, and regularly prays for and welcomes new people.
- Help the group grow in outward focus through active engagement in God’s mission in the world — serving those in need, supporting local and global missions, and sharing the gospel with “People of Peace,” those who are open to spiritual conversations.
- Help the group recognize and respond to opportunities to be salt and light in their communities.
- Build relationships
- Intentionally connect with group members to support spiritual and relational growth.
- Offer prayer, encouragement, and practical help to those in and beyond the group.
- Serve the group practically
- Assist with communication, scheduling, service projects, and social gatherings that build community and engage the wider community.
- Commit to learning and development
- Be mentored by your community pastor or coach and be open to feedback and coaching.
- Step into leadership responsibilities as prepared and affirmed by your community pastor.
Time Commitment:
- 2–4 hours/week of meeting (including prep, group meetings, serving, and follow-up)
Requirements & Training:
- Complete Getting Involved Form and Ministry Partner Agreement
- Must attend and serve in CSC’s Welcome to Community experience.
- Must read and comply with CSC’s Community Group Leader Manual.
- Attend ongoing leadership development and training opportunities hosted by (CSC: e.g. Learning Community), CGL 360, Huddles.
Qualifications:
- A growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and alignment with the vision, mission and values of Centre Street Church.
- Regular attendee of CSC weekend services and an active participant in church life.
- Pursuing membership at Centre Street Church.
- Demonstrates spiritual maturity, relational integrity, and a heart for both discipleship and outreach.
