Position Summary:

As a 1:1 Buddy, you are paired with a specific child in our Children’s Ministries who may need some extra support to navigate the class experience. You’ll stay with them throughout all parts of the morning including, large group time, small group activities, free play, and transitions. Offering steady, reliable support that helps them fully participate alongside their peers. Inclusion is at the heart of this role. We want every child to feel like a valued part of the group, while also recognizing the importance of making sure each child feels safe, supported, and successful. You play a key role in making that happen. While following the lead of the classroom teachers, you provide individualized support to the child, helping them to focus, communicate, regulate, and anything else they may need to thrive. We have a large variety of tools available for your use including mobile sensory supplies, personalized buddy bags and staff support. As a 1:1 Buddy, you model the love of Christ by showing up faithfully, building trust, and reminding your buddy through your actions that they are seen, valued, and deeply loved.

Our mission is to introduce people to Jesus and help them become fully devoted followers of Him. We do this by discipling, equipping, and investing in children, youth, and adults with disabilities—as well as their parents, support workers, and our volunteers. Through both inclusive and specialized environments, we aim to support the broader church community in making the gospel accessible to everyone. By bridging the gap between the church and the disability community, we strive to foster inclusion, understanding, and spiritual growth for all.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Show Jesus’ love to participants
  • Support class participants in one-on-one or small group settings by
  • Playing alongside kids
  • Engaging in the Bible story, Prayers, and Verse
  • Help regulate emotions
  • Build relationships with participants, parents and other volunteers
  • Have fun!

Time Commitment:

  • Once per weekend or biweekly during any service at any campus where Children's Ministries is running.

  • Enjoy building relationships
  • Flexible and adaptable to new situations, with a love of learning
