The NCFC Student Care Coordinator helps identify and provide extended friendship and support for vulnerable students. This may include very new immigrants with limited or no family or social support in Calgary, or students experiencing significant life transitions such as marriage, birth of a child, illness, or death of a family member. It will involve connecting with students both during NCFC program times and outside of NCFC.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Together with NCFC staff, identify vulnerable students who may benefit from extra support.
- Build relationships with identified individuals, within culturally appropriate family and gender boundaries.
- Assist NCFC staff in supporting and celebrating students experiencing significant life transitions.
- Communicate regularly with NCFC staff on how students are doing.
- Assist with connecting students to Christian community and support in the local church.
- Pray regularly for students.
Qualifications
- Understanding of, and agreement with CSC Statement of Faith, Mission and Pursuits (as per cschurch.ca/aboutus).
- Spiritual Gift(s) of Discernment, Service, Mercy.
- Prior immigrant serving experience or cross-cultural friendships.
- Christ-like love and respect for new immigrants / people of other faiths and cultures.
