Whitney grew up going to Centre Street Church, and developed a heart for missions by participating in some of CSC's short-term youth mission trips. At the age of 16 God called her to mission aviation. God opened the door for Whitney to join Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF); an organization dedicated to using aircraft to reach the lost people in the most remote locations around the globe. MAF partners with many mission organizations in over thirty countries to mobilize the spread of the Gospel, bring humanitarian aid, provide life-saving emergency medical evacuations, and much more to secluded communities. Our vision is to see isolated people changed by the love of Christ by serving together to bring help, hope, and healing through aviation.
In recent years there has been a critical shortage of aircraft maintenance engineers overseas; and the airplanes can't fly if there is no one to fix and maintain them! In response to this, MAF started a new program for aircraft maintenance apprentices to gain the experience and knowledge in a missions focused environment and fast-track them overseas to fill this need. Whitney is one of two apprentices chosen to start this program. She is currently serving with Prairie Aviation Training Center (PATC), a Christian flight school in Three Hills, Alberta. PATC is devoted to equipping the next generation of mission pilots. Many of the flight instructors are MAF pilots that have years of overseas experience, meaning they are able to teach with the level of excellence required for flying into jungles, mountain strips, or rough terrain. Whitney is part of the maintenance team at PATC fixing and maintaining the fleet, allowing the flight school to impact many students!
