Gethsemane Christian Evangelical Church – Lviv, Ukraine
Pastor Valerii reports that since the fifth day of the start of the war, God has given to Gethsemane Church an understanding of how they could serve people who were in trouble and in need. And they have been faithful to that calling! While maintaining a Gospel witness in Lviv, this church has provided food, hygiene products, and support (both spiritual and psychological) to refugees daily. More than 100,000 people have received food aid from Gethsemane Church during this critical time.
Food continues to be sent to the east and south part of Ukraine where the conflict is at its worst. Truckloads of flour are being sent and bread and buns are being distributed to the needy. The church is housing 24 people as of May 2024. HART has supplied generators which help heat the church building where the people are living. Food packages are being distributed every week to about 60-70 refugees. The church continues to support about 1200 people in various ways. Through it all, baptisms, summer day camps for kids and young adults, Bible study groups, men’s and women’s ministries, chaplaincy work, and a building program continue. A rehab center for addicts has also been started.
Please pray that God will grant the strength and resources that will allow the Marchenkos and Gethsemane Church to continue their amazing service for the glory of God.
