Transfiguration Evangelical Baptist Church – Rivne, Ukraine
Like many churches in Ukraine, Transfiguration Church in 2023 began focusing much more on assisting refugees from the current war in that country. They have set up a distribution center where items like food, hygiene products, clothing and other necessities are distributed. They have helped people of all ages in this way (and many of the refugees have begun to investigate what the church is all about). Some have come to faith in Christ.
In addition to continuing their regular ministries to children and youth in their area, the church has recently developed a vibrant women’s ministry where about 100 women (many of whom are non-believers) now meet regularly to hear the Word of God and build relationships with one another. The congregation has also begun visiting wounded military personnel in the local hospitals. Their visits include providing needed supplies as well as offering prayer and sharing Christ. Trips are also being made to deliver aid to (and sometimes evacuate citizens from) towns close to the frontline.
As they continue their work, Pastor Oleksandr asks for prayers for protection from missile attacks and that the war would come to an end quickly. He asks that the Lord’s protection would extend to the military, medics, and volunteers with whom they are in constant communication. And he asks that the Lord grant them the power and opportunity to influence society in their city.
