Church, God’s provision for the growth of Centre Street Church has been evident all throughout the history of our community of believers. Currently, we have 5 campuses all around the city. Two of these campuses don’t have a permanent facility and we have been praying to the Lord for a miraculous intervention. Just as we raised the funds for our BUILD projects, God answered our prayers and gave us an additional facility that is going to make a great new home for our South Campus!
At the beginning of this year, the leadership team of Lakeview Baptist Church approached us with an unsolicited proposal to entrust us with their church building…at NO COST! Praise be to God!
On June 1st 2025, CSC took possession of the building and initiated upgrades to the facility. The goal is to move our South Campus congregation from Quarry Park to Lakeview this coming fall, but the exact moving date hinges on the number and complexity of the renovations required before relocating to the new campus.
Renovations updates:
Emptying the facility
- Over 80 volunteers from South Campus and Lakeview Baptist church worked at the Lakeview facility on Saturday May 31st, clearing the building of existing furniture and removing the existing carpet flooring.
- It was amazing to witness the hard work put in by everyone!
Upgrades and renovations
- On June 2nd, building contractors began their work with the intention of:
- Repairing the gym roof.
- Replacing the foyer and sanctuary roof.
- Grinding down the gym floor and to prep it for the new epoxy finish.
- Changing the light fixtures.
Building permit
- We have submitted a building permit to the City of Calgary to add new washrooms to the facility, and we are currently waiting on the city approval.
As we evaluate everything that needs to be done on an aging building, we estimate these upgrades could cost approximately $2 million.
Our vision for this new building is to house a missional community that shines the light of the gospel in the South part of Calgary, with the intention of introducing people to Jesus and help them become fully devoted followers of Christ. Please keep this new BUILD project in your prayers as you consider partnering with us with your time, finances, and prayers.
We will provide updates as new information becomes available.
FAQ
What will happen to the those currently attending Lakeview Baptist church?
The current congregation of Lakeview Baptist church - around 30 people - will be joining our CSC family, and we could not be more excited! In fact, once the facility is closed for renovations by the end of May, the Lakeview community will be invited join the South Campus church family at Quarry Park.
What is the estimated cost of the building renovations?
We are currently conducting an inspection of the building infrastructure and the conditions of the facility. Considering the age of the building (built in 1966), we are aware that there could be multiple issues that may require expensive renovations. As we evaluate everything that needs to be done on an aging building, we estimate these upgrades could cost approximately $2 million.
We are grateful to the Lord for giving this building to CSC and we’re asking you to consider what you might be able to give to help with the needed upgrades.
How can I get involved in this new BUILD project?
Please pray for our Senior Leadership Team, the BUILD project team, and the South Campus church family as they embark on this exciting project. Also, consider supporting this project financially as you feel led by God. You can give to this initiative by visiting Here and then selecting the “5195 – Build More Room for God” project code.
Do we know the opening date for the new South Campus location?
The main factors will be the complexity of the renovations required and how quickly we can raise the funds to complete the upgrades. We want to be cautiously optimistic with both of these items and we know that God will provide the wisdom and means to have everything ready in His timing. We will promptly provide updates as new information becomes available.
Fourth Floor: Central Campus Expansion
The shell of the fourth floor was built with the long-term picture in mind. During the pandemic and some of the most challenging moments of our construction journey, CSC leaders prayerfully balanced radical steps of faith with careful discernment.
We therefore took a phased approach constructing the shell of the 4th floor to further complete at a future date.
Who knew we would need to complete the fourth floor so quickly after constructing our Central Campus expansion? We didn’t. God did.
The need: Since our expansion opened, the number of students attending classes offered by the New Canadian Hub went from 299 to 405, and the classrooms continue to book up throughout peak moments during the week.
Completing the fourth floor will add classrooms and free up ministry space in the northeast and southeast corners of the current building as staff move into workspaces on the fourth floor. The estimated cost for the completion of the fourth floor is $3.5 million.
Updates
- Pre-Construction Phase:
- The Board of Governors has approved costs for the preconstruction design phase. This approval allows for the completion of the tender ready drawings and specifications, the application for the building permit, and for a tender process. BoG would like a tender budget presented to them for review late summer or early fall.
- Architect and engineers have been awarded the project.
- Design meetings with the consultants have started.
