This year marked an exciting new era of generosity for our church. We are seeing a harvest of extraordinary events, stories and people taking bold steps of faith in their own journeys to BUILD more room for God in their time, their communities, their finances and their lives.
Meet Jeremy and Chantelle Holterman who serve with their children at the Hospitality Desk in Children’s Ministry, where volunteers greet families as they arrive and guide them through the process of checking in, finding their rooms and checking out. It’s a place to share God’s amazing love with our children and it is also an opportunity for God to bless those who give Him their time.
God provides a place to serve
We attended CSC for a long time without getting involved. No one knew who we were or noticed if we were away or present. We started praying for the Lord to put like minded people in our path. Our connections started with a small group, who are dear and wonderful friends whom the Lord blessed us with. But after a few years, life pulled our group apart and we were again in a position where we were longing for connection. We returned to our prayer and the Lord answered by providing us a place to serve.
When we started serving at the Hospitality Desk there was an incredible need. So we served nearly every Sunday of the year, at both morning services. We absolutely loved it! Our children sat with us and we got to know a lot of families that passed through Children’s Ministry. As the team grew we were no longer serving out of a place of necessity but out of a desire to be in community not only with the other team members and the staff, but also with the families.
Today we’re noticing there are many more families getting involved – husbands, wives and children – and having fun as they serve together. Children’s Ministry has also grown incredibly. Every weekend there is a huge need for volunteers but God is faithful and, somehow, He always provides.
Getting involved and becoming part of the church “body” changes everything. There is great joy in having relationship with Christ and that joy is heightened to a new level when it involves a community of believers who love, serve the Lord and “do life” together. If you’re new to the church or have been attending for a long time but feel this community is something that is missing, it is available in abundance at CSC when you choose to get involved!
