A couple of weeks ago, some of our CSC Youth Ministry students and our leaders spent a week on mission right here in Calgary. They experienced God moving in powerful ways as they served with organizations like the Dream Center, Pregnancy Care Center, RESET Calgary, Mustard Seed, and more. Here is a short highlight from Tomas, one of our Youth Pastors, about the week:
"One of my favourite memories was when we joined a Monday Night Evangelism (MNE) team who took us to back alleys of downtown Calgary to minister to and pray over the homeless, addicted, and occasionally intoxicated individuals. Our youth students shared the Gospel in some of the darkest and scariest places I've ever encountered in our city. Within minutes of meeting people, our youth were offering nourishment, both for the stomach and the soul, through food, prayer, sharing the Gospel, and handing out pocket Bibles - a beautiful testimony of Jesus' teaching," 'Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.'" Matthew 25:40
By the end of the week, all of our lives were transformed as we prayerfully participated in being the hands and feet of Jesus. One student asked if they could lead a group to make regular "Care packages" - another testimony of how they grasped that this wasn't just a one-time, one-week missions trip but rather a way we are called to live as followers and ambassadors of Christ.
