Welcome Church - Dartmouth, Nova Scotia
In June 2024 my wife Debi and I relocated from Fredericton, New Brunswick where I was a pastor at Christ Central Church, and moved to Dartmouth, Nova Scotia to plant a church in that community. A number of others are in the process of joining us from New Brunswick, PEI, Ontario and the UK.
Dartmouth is part of the Halifax Regional Municipality and is located on the opposite side of the harbour to downtown Halifax. It has historically been one of the least affluent areas of the HRM although there has recently been some regeneration of the area. Just over half of the population identify as being from a Christian background (predominantly Catholic) although many profess no religion at all. There are some Sikh and Muslim communities in the area.
The vision for the church is to see a relational community of people made up of many nationalities and backgrounds coming together to worship Jesus. The motto of Dartmouth is ’Through Friendship We Grow’ expressing a desire to see friendship and understanding fostered between different nations and backgrounds. We want to get behind that vision whilst recognizing that it can only find its true fulfilment in Christ.
We are looking forward to seeing a vibrant, loving Word and Spirit church growing in Dartmouth and are excited to begin the journey God is setting out before us.
