Hope City Barrie
Barrie Ontario

Hope City Barrie is here for the long haul. Hope Barrie began as a small group of people meeting in a downtown coffee shop, dreaming of better things.  Human Development, what our faith calls discipleship, moves at the speed of relationship. And relationships grow into community.  Hope City quickly grew into a church group in early 2014.  Since then, we have grown to be a vital and permanent presence in Barrie's downtown. The original dream of a church that served up and coming professionals was not the community God eventually revealed to them. Today Hope City meets in Hope centre the driving heart of the faith community. Hope Centre is committed to working against chronic poverty through housing, food security and addiction recovery.

Hope Barrie exists to help people to become everything that God created them to be. With our full time presence among the most vulnerable and marginalized in Downtown Barrie, Ontario, we engage issues in our urban centre such as poverty, food insecurity, mental health, homelessness, and addiction. We know that human development in these areas, what the Bible calls discipleship, moves at the speed of relationship, and we are committed to a ministry of presence and friendship among "the least of these". The majority of our Hope City Church community members are impoverished, and we depend on support from outside of our church family.

Since our inception in 2014 as an informal group of Jesus-followers meeting in a local coffee shop, we have grown into a thriving community of people learning to follow Jesus Together. The Hope Barrie Group of Ministries include our full time Hope Centre, where people can come and meet and find the supports that they need, Hope House Barrie, a sober living house for men, and Higher Grounds Coffee House, a non-profit social enterprise that gives people job skill mentorship while feeding our street-involved friends and neighbours at the same time.
