Creative Circle Teacher
Position Description
The Creative Circle Teacher works under the direction of the Creative Circle Leader to teach newcomers creative handicraft skills, such as knitting, crochet, cross-stitch, embroidery. The focus is on facilitating an environment that fosters friendship and creates a safe and welcoming community for people of all faiths and cultures.
Your role may include opportunity for involvement in the Artist Collective by encouraging newcomer entrepreneurs and assisting with craft sale days.
Participation Level
ENGAGE – This level requires an ongoing (regular) commitment to a specific program. The Team member gains an increased understanding of the ministry and becomes more engaged at a heart level. Most of these positions have greater application requirements and involve specific training.
Responsibilities
- Work alongside other volunteers & participants to teach each other creative handicraft skills
- Observe class dynamics and work with Group Leader to facilitate a welcoming, God-honouring community
- Help organize group projects, activities, and outreach opportunities
- Build relationships with participants and encourage spiritual conversations
- Pray regularly with and for other volunteers and group participants
- Participate in morning staff/volunteer prayer & worship time
Time Commitment
One class per week (Mondays 9:20am-12pm); occasional special events, celebrations, and volunteer training events.
Qualifications
- Understanding of, and agreement with, the CSC Statement of Faith, Mission and Pursuits (cf https://cschurch.ca/resource/our-statement-of-faith)
- Intermediate to Advanced skill in a creative handicraft
- Christ-like love and respect for new immigrants/people of other faiths and cultures
