Refugee Friendship Program
Connects individuals, families and community groups to refugee families for friendship and support during their first year in Canada. CFTC will provide training, resources, introduce you to your family, and provide a mentor who will regularly follow up with you and be available for support.
Responsibilities:
- Attend training and orientation session
- Commit to connecting regularly with a refugee family for one year
- Practice hospitality by sharing invitations to join in everyday life and events
- Be available to answer questions, provide support and advocacy as needed
- Pray for the family you are connected to
Time Commitment:
- One-year commitment to connecting weekly (phone, text or in person)
Qualifications:
- Understanding of, and agreement with, CSC Statement of Faith, Mission, and Pursuits
- Spiritual Gifts: Hospitality, Discernment
- Curiosity and openness to new perspectives
- Patience with people learning a new language and culture, and eagerness to learn from them
- Time and capacity to meaningfully engage with refugee family for the year
